The Florida Keys are known for its beautiful beaches and bright sunshine. People from all over the world vacation here for that very reason. What many tourists don’t realize before arriving with sun glasses and flip flops in hand, is just how direct and strong those sun rays are down here. Key West is a little over 1,500 miles from the equator where the sun’s rays are the most intense.

How to treat a jellyfish sting

It is another beautiful Keys day and you’ve decided to go out on the water.  You are snorkeling, diving or just taking a dip in the ocean when you suddenly experiencing a sharp, piercing pain.  JELLYFISH!!  Although you may not see them, you know when you’ve been hit.  There are many old wives tales when it comes to treating a jellyfish sting and if you’ve ever been stung you know you would try just about anything to make that awful irritation go away.

Congressional bill to allow corporate wellness programs to require employees get genetic testing

Very little is being said about a bill moving through Congress that would allow employers to require its employees enrolled in the company’s wellness program to submit to genetic testing. Under this bill, if the employee does not comply, the employer could require them to pay up to 50% more for their insurance.  The bill, HR1313, was approved by the House in mid-March of this year and is set to be folded into a second ACA-related measure.
